“We couldn’t find any drives. To get a storage driver, click Load Driver.” That’s the message I got trying to install Windows 8.1 on a slightly used drive for my heavily used desktop. Simply cleaning it in Diskpart solved the problem.
EDIT: LET ME CLARIFY. Doing the following is preparing your drive for a CLEAN OS INSTALL. This means you’re losing any data currently on the drive (technically you’re not erasing the drive, you’re just marking all the data as “gone” or “overwriteable,” so if you don’t continue and install an OS you can most likely recover it, but let’s just not go there). Don’t do this to a drive that has data you want to keep!

just a clarification, you can do this right from the windows installer by clicking ‘repair’ , ‘advanced options’ and ‘open a command window’

Hello there i have a problems of not finding a drives after installing windows 8.1. During booting it ask for bootable cd and i insert it but during installing windows 8.1 it couldnt find any drives. How can i fix this problems or had my hard drive been damaged??

Win8.1 install failed to see new HDD.
On Win8.1 install setup, I went to “Repair your computer” > “Troubleshoot” > “Advanced Options” > “CMD Prompt” and typed: ” Diskpart > List disk > Select disk 0 > Clean “.
New HDD now visible ~ Installed Win8.1 no problems. 🙂

Are you sure you opened an elevated CMD prompt? Typed CMD into the Windows run line, right clicked on it and chose Run as Administrator?
I can’t find any internal disk in cmd prompt…………..

Thanks for the suggestion. It didn’t work for me but I did try it, unfortunately the diskpart command only showed one partition and I had split mine for dual boot.

What do you mean? LIST DISK will give you an enumerated list of your disks. Identify the appropriate disk number from that list and then SELECT DISK XX where XX is the disk number.
